RFE broadcasts were systematically jammed by communist regimes throughout its entire period of operation, from its very inception (as a falsely independent, privately funded station) until 1988, and this became a characteristic feature of the radio station.

Today, the jamming noises are difficult to find in the archives, as they were only audible to the listener and are therefore essentially no longer detectable on the audio level. However, it could be said that this sound has been preserved in the opposite form of noise – in silence.

9h37min presented a journey through a model created from vocal improvisations to rare found recordings of disturbed broadcasts. Melodies were sought in these sounds. The improvisation sought to reach a point of interference – when the improvised tones came very close to those heard in the recordings.

The sound installation took place in the lecture hall in the extension of the former headquarters of RFE on 12.7.2025. The final sound reminded of the jamming noises, though not factually containing any of these.

Vysielanie RFE bolo systematicky rušené komunistickými režimami počas celého obdobia jeho fungovania, od samého začiatku (ako falošne oficiálne nezávislá súkromne financovaná stanica) až do roku 1988 a stalo sa charakteristikou tohoto rádia.

Dnes je rušivý šum v archívoch ťažké nájsť (bol počuteľný len na strane poslucháča) a v podstate už nie je vo zvukovej rovine zaregistrovateľný. Dalo by sa však povedať, že sa tento zvuk zachoval, a to v opačnej forme ruchu – v tichu.

9h37min predstavil cestu cez model, ktorý bol vytvorený z vokálnych improvizácií ku nájdeným záznamom rušeného vysielania. V týchto zvukoch sa hľadali melódie. Improvizácia pritom dosahovala bod interferencie – improvizované tóny sa veľmi približovali tým, ktoré bolo počuť v záznamoch.

Zvuková inštalácia sa konala v prednáškovej sále v prístavbe bývalého sídla RFE 12.7.2025. Konečný zvuk pripomínal rušivé šumy, hoci v skutočnosti žiadne neobsahoval.

Die Sendungen von RFE wurden während ihrer gesamten Laufzeit, von den Anfängen (als angeblich unabhängiger, privat finanzierter Sender) bis 1988, systematisch von kommunistischen Regimes gestört, was zu einem Charakteristikum dieses Radiosenders wurde.

Heute sind die Störgeräusche in den Archiven nur noch schwer zu finden, da sie nur für den Zuhörer hörbar waren und daher auf Audioebene im Wesentlichen nicht mehr nachweisbar sind. Man könnte jedoch sagen, dass dieses Geräusch in der entgegengesetzten Form – in der Stille – erhalten geblieben ist.

9h37min präsentierte eine Reise durch ein Modell, das aus stimmlichen Improvisationen zu seltenen Fundstücken gestörter Rundfunkaufnahmen entstanden ist. In diesen Klängen wurde nach Melodien gesucht. Die Improvisation zielte darauf ab, einen Punkt der Interferenz zu erreichen – wenn die improvisierten Töne denen in den Aufnahmen sehr nahe kamen.

Die Klanginstallation fand am 12.7.2025 im Hörsaal im Anbau des ehemaligen Hauptsitzes von RFE statt. Der endgültige Klang erinnerte an die Störgeräusche, obwohl er faktisch keine davon enthielt.
